Here is a rare original Belgian movie poster from the first release of Laurel and Hardy's cinematic swan song,
Atoll K.
There is much that can be said of this film, none of it very good. Though it has an interesting storyline where Stan inherits an island that the boys attempt to turn into a Utopia, Stan and Ollie were quite past the age where they could perform physical comedy that would make audiences laugh. In fact, it is often times painful to watch this legendary duo who are obviously in poor health just go through the motions. What is really interesting here, though, is this rare Belgian poster. It is unlike any other movie poster for a L & H Belgian release. It features images of Stan and Ollie (from production stills) positioned in such a way that they seem to be ogling a young girl who is showing much more cleavage in 1951 than J Lo would dare to bare in 2021. I find it quite creepy to see these two usually avuncular characters been portrayed by the poster artist as lecherous old men crawling towards and leering at a scantily clad girl. Very strange and a little unnerving. This poster is from the 1st Belgian release of the film in 1951. Despite what the distributor or poster artist had in mind when designing this poster, it seldom comes up for sale or auction. It is truly a "must have" for any collector of Laurel and Hardy memorabilia.

CONDITION:
Very Good Trimmed Folded Condition. Partially trimmed top white border with a small hole and remnants of a prior theater exhibition snipe. Remnants of a tax stamp in the lower right. Slightest of yellowing near edges of borders. Artwork is vivid and completely intact. Folded as originally issued, this poster has been stored flat for the past 16 years and will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube.
